The village of Clonegal in County Carlow is located close to the border with County Wexford. This is a very scenic rural area in the southern foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains.
The nearest town to Clonegal is Bunclody — a small town with a hotel, the Millrace.
Situated on the banks of the river Derry, Clonegal is a scenic village with some excellent views.
Places of interest in the village include the historic Huntington Castle, associated with the Cult of Isis, where parts of the gardens date from the 17th century.
The Huntington Castle gardens are open from 2-6 pm from May to September.
