Is that a whiff of gunsmoke in the Macroom air?

Macroom is a garrison town that you will pass through if you drive from Killarney to Cork. It’s a busy market town that oozes history. A major battle was fought at Macroom om 1650 between Cromwell’s forces led by Lord Borghill and those, under the command of Bishop Mac Egan, loyal to King Charles. Cromwell’s forces won. If you get the chance to stop here, it’s an interesting little town to walk around. You can  smell history in the air!
