Close to Delgany and the Glen of the Downs in County Wicklow, Kindlestown Woods is situated close to the N11/M50 and has a car park. You take the exit for the Glenview Hotel and follow the signs for the Glen of the Downs golf club. Passing the golf club on your left, you turn right at the next junction and the entrance to the car park is a short distance up the road on your left. Look behind you when you have parked as there is an excellent view of the Sugar Loaf from the entrance to the car park.

Kindlestown Woods is a fairly easy walk if you follow the path from the car park to a viewing point which is about 500m. There is a slight incline at the start of the walk but it is fairly level after that once you keep to the path.

There is a bench along the way if you need a rest but the walk is fairly short and not particularly taxing. A disappointment is that you can hear traffic from the road so you don’t altogether have a sense of getting away from it all but it is a pleasant stroll and when you you reach the viewing point there is a decent view, albeit screened by trees, across Greystones to the Irish sea.

Although the path was a bit wet when I visited in February, it was easy to walk and should be suitable for most buggies and wheelchairs.
